3am, aneurysms and jasmine.

Well it’s about 3am and I am as awake as awake can be. Not surprising since I didn’t get up until about 6pm. It’s not that I was tired or anything, it was the fact that I had the worst headache all afternoon. Some sort of migraine I would imagine since it didn’t feel like a normal headache, more like some sort of stroke or aneurysm would be a better description. I was even laying there thinking “wouldn’t it be weird if if this was one of those freak occurrences where some blood vessel in my brain burst and I died? how long would it take before I was found?” I came to the conclusion that it would be Wednesday afternoon after I missed the second day of work. Tuesday they would just be saying “Hey isn’t Steve supposed to be back today? Maybe he called and took another day and nobody wrote it down.”

I’m just sitting here in the middle of cleaning up my little area here which I never seem to finish while listening to Coast to Coast AM on the computer. I just got back from Russ’s Market and I bought a little potpourri cooker thing that I picked up on a whim along with jasmine scented liquid potpourri. It’s interesting how different scents are linked directly to memory in the brain. I read that somewhere and it is completely true. The memory that I get with jasmine is living on 2122 6th street in Columbus when I was a kid in the springtime. Running around the neighborhood with all the neighbors. I can hardly remember their names now. Anthony.. his brother, can’t remember his name (EDIT, It was Greg)… Stacy… Wendy… Tyson… the Patochka’s to the south… even the dumb ass Kivetts directly west. Lots of different things went flowing through my mind. Looking out the front window on my birthday waiting for Grandma and Grandpa in that blue van to bring me a brand new big wheel. Sylvester the cat who was the first pet that was actually my own. He was mean as hell but would suck on the back of the head of Wilbur the bear at night (most likely taken away from his mother too soon). He was run over by a car and my mom took me to see him at the vet before he was put to sleep. My first red bike (which was stolen). Stupid ass miserable paper route delivering the Pawnee Scout for 3¢ a paper. Even playing you show me yours and I’ll show you mine with Wendy and Stacy when none of us were old enough to know what we were showing or what we were supposed to do with it. You know if you asked me to name a smell that reminded me of something I really couldn’t name you much of anything. I had no idea what jasmine smelled like until I was opening them up in the store and seeing what they were like. Nice to come across something unexpected at 3am.

  1. Yeah I knew that, but I also know you don’t use it, and I know why…the chlorine smell makes you think of fat chicks! LOL
