Because I feel like someone has beat the living crap out of me today, I don’t even think I landed a punch. I miss the days when I was younger and could recover a little bit faster. I know why I’m hurting so bad, I’ve started the big house project of gutters, fascia, soffit, and siding on the house. There’s no more standing around with my hands in my pockets looking at it and pondering the issue anymore, there’s no turning back. The old gutters are mostly torn off and on the ground so it’s either finish the project or else. I’m working on the front now since that’s the hardest part to do with all the corners to work around (the back will be hard in it’s own way because it’s much higher up, but technically easier because it’s less complicated). Got the fascia up and the soffit is complete on the porch and I have to admit, it looks alright, considering the fact that I have no idea what I’m doing and have never done it before. There are a few places where I could have done a bit of a cleaner job, but it’s only really noticeable if you’re going around trying to nitpick. Looks good just walking around not trying to find flaws. A 25 foot house if you will, looks great from 25 feet away. The old neighbor guy across the street shuffled over to take a look and he said “I don’t envy you.” because he’s done all this stuff on a house before and it sucks, but he also said it looks just fine to him so far, which since he’s the handyman type is good to hear. I took the day off for today with it, I’m hurting so bad so I just took the boy to the park and am hanging out with him instead of cracking him out on the TV while I try to work.
Another reason I am sore is because I am working on a running streak so I can get myself in shape again. I am going to try and get myself listed on the United States Running Streak Association website. You need to run at least a mile every day for a year to even get listed and start which sounds like a lot but there’s people on there who have been doing it every day for 45 years. I don’t know, it’s something to do I guess. Since I went to the weekend shift last year I have had a hard time getting motivated to go out and run since I can’t do many races anymore (they are ALL on the weekend), and the thing that motivates me the most is training for races. Anyway, I started on my birthday and have gone out 8 days in a row now, I can already feel it getting easier. It also made me realize how little I have done in the previous year before that when in a weeks time I’ve got 27% of the total distance that I did in the whole year before that. So I guess it’s working in that respect, I’m back out there again.
