Gmail Drive.

I just tried something called Gmail Drive that makes a virtual hard drive in a Gmail account (Google Mail).  It works really good actually.  A drive shows up in My Computer that you can drag and drop stuff into just like all your other drives except for the fact that it is stored online instead of on your computer.  This is a great way to have backups of stuff if your computer crashes.  Since gmail has 2.5 gigs of storage its like having another 2.5 gig hard drive.  If you are at another computer and want to get to a file you can just log into it just like you were logging into any other webmail and download the file you want.  Otherwise you dont need to actually go to the web site to get the files, on your home computer it looks like any other hard drive.  I don’t think that it would work that great for dial up people unless you wanted to just store small files on there since everything has to go over the internet but for high speed internet connections it’s really cool.  I made myself a new gmail account specifically for it instead of using my skorgie one since I already use that for other stuff.  Just thought I would pass this on since it’s a good idea, works good and it’s free.  Here’s a link to the place to download Gmail Drive program from.  It’s small, like 133kb.  If you want to try this out let me know because you still need an invite to get a gmail account if you don’t already have one.  As of now I have 99 invites available.  I remember when they were selling these invites on ebay for like 10 or 20 bucks a piece, when Google Mail just started and there weren’t many available.  They aren’t worth anything now though.
