I’m still here.

Sorry I haven’t really written much lately, I guess I didn’t feel like it all that much. I’m in kind of a bleh mood lately. Haven’t run or biked in about a week and a half. I rode the 35 mile route in this years “Trail Trek” last Sunday. That was ok I suppose. I got to see some of the northeast Lincoln trails that I have never ridden before because I’m never in that area. I bought a small tailgater gas grill and Ed and I have been grilling out here at work the last couple weeks. He’s the grillmaster tonight. We are having bacon wrapped steak, baked potato, corn on the cob, cheesy Texas toast and broccoli and cheese. Yummy. I can use the grill at home too which is nice since I don’t have a patio and even if I did grilling isn’t allowed anymore on apartment patios according to the fire chief. I just ordered a Macbook Pro. My old computer is over 4 years old now and is starting to get pretty tired so I thought I would get something fancy and new. Especially since I’m going to be spending the next 3 and a half years doing online classes to finish my degree. It was insanely expensive though. It physically hurt me to click the button to finalize the order. Oh well they hold their resale value really well, work smooth forever and if I was going to get a normal computer I would have to get it with Vista, and I completely despise that turd. I’ve liked what I’ve seen so far from OSX. Plus if I end up hating it then I can always run whatever I want on it. Kind of defeats the purpose of paying the premium for it if I’m just going to run XP or Vista on it though. That’s all I’ve got for today, nothing all that new going on with me.

  1. Bacon wrapped steak, baked potato, corn on the cob, cheesy Texas toast and broccoli and cheese…a perfect 2:00 AM snack. Assuming you’re on graves still. You should keep us updated on your new computer. I’ve been eyeing the Macbooks too, but I can’t tell if the buzz is just hype.

  2. You can bet I’ll be keeping everyone updated since I don’t really have much of a life and that’s the only thing going on with me right now. It looks like I will receive it next Wednesday so I will be spending a lot of time learning all the ins and outs of the system. I’ve already been collecting all the Mac versions of the programs that I use a lot so I have them ready to go. I’m wondering about all the programs that don’t have a mac version and how well they will work since I’m planning on running those with a program called Parallels which runs a whole copy of windows in a virtual machine so I don’t have to reboot to use them. From the way it looks you can run your windows programs right alongside your mac programs with no perceptible difference in speed. I don’t know how well it works in real life though. I’m excited for it to arrive, it should be a real speed demon. 2.5ghz core 2 duo processor, 250 gig hard drive, 2 gigs ram, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 512MB video ram, 15.4 inch led backlight screen (the screen wont dim over time like normal lcd screens). I will miss the 17 inch screen and awesome speakers of the Toshiba but I’m really looking to shed some weight since I have to carry it everywhere. The toshiba weighs almost 10 pounds and the Macbook is just over 5. I’ll post my review when I get it. Even if I hate it I’ll have to get used to it because I need to use it for at least the next 5 years to make the cost worthwhile.

  3. Not me Steve…all I’ve every asked from you is friendship, and that will never change ol’ buddy. Although, that computer did have pretty nice speakers…hmmm.

  4. Well the old computer isn’t going to anyone until I get the new one. It’s been a week since I ordered it and it still isn’t here dammit. It was supposed to get here today but now the fedex tracking says it’s still in Lenexa Kansas and might come tomorrow. I hate waiting for new toys. I should have paid for the faster shipping instead of taking the free shipping. I didn’t know the free shipping was by horse and buggy.

  5. Hey, what does “Doskonatosci w przedietnosc” mean? Are you learning polish or something?

  6. DoskonaÅ‚oÅ›ci w przeciÄ™tność is “Excellence in Mediocrity” in Polish. No I’m not learning Polish since that’s pretty much a waste of time unless I was moving to eastern Europe. If I was going to learn another language it would be Spanish since I might actually encounter someone else who speaks it.

  7. Yeah, here where I live it’s kind of hard NOT to run into anyone who speaks it. Maybe I should learn so I know what they’re saying…
