Lincoln Half Marathon

Jessica and I ran the Lincoln Half Marathon on Sunday. It’s a good thing that I have her around to keep me on track sometimes because I think I might have skipped it if it was just up to me. I wasn’t looking forward to running it at all because the farthest I have gone while training for it was 7 miles. Pretty pathetic. I skipped the 8, 9 and 10 mile runs plus a lot of the shorter ones in between. I’m just at a down point in my motivation I guess. We lined up for the race near the back of the pack so it took us over 20 minutes before we even reached the starting line. Being that far back in the pack makes you feel faster because you are passing people for almost the entire race. It went a lot better than I thought it would and we ran the whole way together without walking or cramping up unlike Omaha which didn’t go well for me because of piss poor training. This year the finish line was in Memorial Stadium on the 50 yard line which was pretty cool. It felt like we were a lot faster than in Omaha but it turns out it was only like 5 seconds per mile faster. I think we might have actually gotten a good finish line picture for once but it’s hard to say, pictures won’t be out for a while. We did end up in the background of the Channel 8 news and I almost ran into the news crew because I was following the lady ahead of me and not really paying attention. Jessica did a little video editing magic and put it to music so I could post it here on the web. I think I might go run the Council Bluffs Half on the 23rd. Haven’t decided yet.
