Midwinter mehs.

I don’t have all that much going on to write about. It’s midwinter and I feel pretty low energy and unmotivated. I’m ready for it to get warmer again so I can go outside without getting windburn. So far I’ve had no supermodel problems despite my last post so I guess the karma thing only works once. Yesterday marked the first day of the new pay cut and it sucked. Mostly because there’s no overtime authorized either and we were down 2 guys and they didn’t fill the slots so it was basically 33% more work per person with a pay cut as well. Still much better than looking for work though. I think I just need some sunlight to brighten my mood and perk me up a little. I’ve been told in the past I have “Seasonal Affective Disorder”. I call bullshit on that. Basically pharmaceutical companies came up with a name for being miserable and cold so they could sell an expensive pill for it. Better yet it has a convenient acronym like S.A.D. Oh my fucking god you have to be kidding me. Hey good news buddy! You’re not just tired of being cold and cooped up inside! It turns out that you’re S.A.D.! Here have a pill! Give me a break.

Did my taxes already. Made out better than I did last year and only ended up owing about $100 bucks total. The 20% credit for tuition helped although I would have preferred the better credit that you get if you’re a Freshman or Sophomore. Now I just get the lifetime learning credit. Oh well, it’s something I guess. Just as long as the government didn’t get a interest free loan from me again this year I did fine.

I’m about halfway through the Earth and Physical Science class. So far I’ve still got a 95% but it’s a lot harder than I thought it would be. Atomic theory is so far over my head I might as well be trying to grab the moon. Still I’m doing better than most in the class since the class average is a 78% including me. Just took a exam for it and it was pretty damn hard. Mostly because it covered so much material so it was hard to study for it and the questions were pretty obscure.

I was pretty pumped for a day this week and then quickly deflated. My friend Dave that ran the 100 mile race down in Kansas a few months ago got accepted into the Leadville 100, one of the hardest races in the world and he left me a message that he wanted me to be a pacer for him the last 30 miles (if he made it that far). I left him a message that I would but it turns out that his brother had already lined up someone who lives near the race to do it before he got ahold of me. He said he is going to try and get rid of the other guy if he can so I still might do it but who knows. I might not want to anyway. The race starts at over 10,000 feet and goes to 13,000 feet or so. Altitude sickness starts at 8,500 feet so it’s likely to be a debilitating climate to just walk around in much less race in. It still would be neat to be a part of it I though. I guess about half the people who enter don’t even finish. Also Lance Armstrong entered the bike part of the race last year and he didn’t win (he came in second to some random guy who does these races all the time).

  1. It’s supposed to snow Friday…I’m S.A.D. Got done with my taxes as well…NOT so S.A.D. about that. What’s new with you?
