sell… Sell… SELL!!!!!

I’ve gone ahead and sold a sizable chunk of my stock portfolio. I just don’t feel good about the economy right now and I’m afraid of a double dip recession right when I was starting to get even again. Overall, I would be much better off if I had never invested anything to begin with but my timing has always been crap. The market will probably go through the roof now that I don’t have as much money in. I’m not getting out of the market completely, I just decided to use the money to retire the debt from my car 4 years early and once again be debt free with no payments on anything. That gives me a 6% return on my money that I was paying in interest anyway. I would be happy if I could have gotten that amount of overall return the last couple years. I’ll buy back in to the market but I like having the choice of how much will go rather than having a car payment that I have to make no matter what. The flexibility and greater cash flow just makes me feel better, plus putting money into savings and investments makes me feel like I’m getting somewhere more than making a payment does.

Oh no! My favorite comic Cathy will be ending on October 3rd! AACK! Seriously though that thing is complete crap and I’m amazed that it went on for so long. I don’t know how many days in a row that I looked in the paper specifically to see if Cathy was funny today. Nope, she’s still fat and can’t fit into her clothes and her boyfriend or husband or whatever is still in the closet. I was so pissed that that stupid thing never ended, while the stuff that I liked like The Far Side and Calvin and Hobbes stopped being made. Goodbye Cathy, Family Circus hopefully you’re next. I do however think Scott Meets Family Circus is pretty funny so check that out, I wish he would make some more of them.

I’m on vacation for a week as soon as I get off work in the morning. Well it’s not a vacation really, I’m not going anywhere. It’s more of a staycation I guess. I’m not really going to relax all that much either, most of my time is going to be spent getting stuff packed to move and getting rid of a bunch of stuff, looking for a new place, taking care of stuff on the todo list, etc. It’s not really even a staycation I guess, let’s call it unpaid work that sucks a lot more than my normal paid work, soooooo yay fun!
