So yea, we got some Fitbits.

Jessica and I just received our brand new Fitbits from the UPS man today. Basically it’s a fancy pedometer that you wear on your wrist all the time. It tracks how much you are moving throughout the day and gives you an estimate of how active you are, how many calories you’ve burned, how well you’re sleeping, how many steps you’ve taken and how far you’ve gone, and how long are you doing vigorous activity every day. They are a bit pricy I guess but good health and fitness is the most valuable thing you can have, especially as you get older so if it helps in that regard then it’s a very small investment for a very large return. It doesn’t matter how much money you have if your health is shot because you can’t enjoy it. Anyway they kind of look like one of those Livestrong bracelets, only thicker in some areas. I kinda have been eyeballing something along these lines for a while, when you see how you spend your days activity wise it gets you moving a bit more just like when you track your money it makes understand the overall picture and makes you smarter about your financial decisions. It figures that as soon as I order them and they are on their way I see that Garmin is coming out with one of their own that is compatible with the heart rate monitors that we already have and has better features. Oh well, we will try the Fitbits for a while and if I decide to go with the Garmin later then I can always sell them or give it to someone who really needs it. The thing I am most excited to try is to see what it says about our activity when we have some sex… I don’t know why, I’m sure I will be disappointed in what it tells me. Gimme a break, I’m not 18 years old any more after all!

  1. I will this time, I was checking to see if it auto posted or not, sometimes it acts up. Plus the program I use to syndicate to facebook imports the comments people make on here and put them as comments on the website so I would have seen it even if I hadn’t logged in to make sure it was working. Anyway, we got the Flex. Was going to get the Force but it seems like people were having problems with the band not being removable from the unit and it not being waterproof like the Flex.

  2. Well just don’t hurt yourself trying to get “vigorous”…you aren’t as young as you used to be ya know…ha!

  3. gosh Steve and Cindy, I feel for you getting SO “OLD” ha. Hey I still do 3 – 5 miles a day 5 days a week and just started a fitness program at the new Sr Center. gotta keep on my toes so I can quilt. ha. GMW

    1. I’m not saying I’m so old, I’m just trying to keep active now while I’m still young and mostly healthy so I stay that way for as much of my lifetime as I possibly can.
