Texas Holdem.

What’s the big thing with playing poker lately? Everyone seems to be doing it and you hear about it all the time. There’s flyers up on all the buildings here in my complex about some guy wanting to set up a weekly game at the clubhouse. I don’t get it. Everyone is online losing their money and talking about it all the time. I think it’s just a fad. Just like pink shirts at the bar, the macarena, Billy Ray Cyrus and New Kids on the Block. I will resist this fad and when it goes out of style I will again be able to say that I always thought it sucked and make fun of the people that used to do it.

I found out my new shift at work. For the most part I am ok with it. It’s Saturday 6am-2pm, Sunday 6 am-10pm, and Tuesday 6 am-10pm. Not bad really. I get a 10% shift differential for working the weekend shift and I still get to watch most of the Husker games. At least the ones that don’t start at 11am. Also I don’t have to be at work for 16 hours on Husker homegame days when it is super busy all day because of all the bigwigs coming in for the game. Starts on the 8th of next month.

What the hell is up with the weather? I’ve been being cooked alive every day with 105 degree heat and no wind day after day after day, and today I got soaked with rain complimented with a cold wind. Where are the 75 degree partly cloudy days with a nice breeze and low humidity? I think it’s going to go directly from summer right into winter. That’s how summer came in.
EDIT: Oh there the nice weather is… When I am not at work and have to be out in it.

  1. But hey…it’s the best job you’ve ever had…and you beat out (how many?) other people to get it! The pay is good and the benefits are good…oh yeah, sorry about you being out in the heat, just make sure you drink lots of water and use sunscreen. Maybe soon, you can get a desk job…

  2. DAMNIT STEVE Billy Ray Cyrus is/was not a fad!!! That guy could put out the music! I agree about the poker though it is a little silly, I’ll waste my money the old fashion way with cigarettes, beer, and a roll of quarters at GenerationX.

  3. Korgie,
Not sure if you remember me, but I used to work HSC in the Air Force with you. I was just searching the Internet and found your site. It is good to see some familiar faces again and I wanted to say hello. By the way, has anyone spoken to Lance Moon lately?
