Yea… I hate my new class…

…supervisory skills and practices. For a boring business class the text isn’t that bad but I already dislike the instructor. I absolutely despise it when a class has no actual critical thinking and the only way to do well is to memorize and regurgitate whatever the writer of the book says is correct and do it in a pretty manner with proper punctuation. If an answer doesn’t make sense or it doesn’t really fit what happens in the real world it doesn’t matter, that’s what the answer key says is the answer so that is the answer. shut up, SIT DOWN! Style over substance. Is it any wonder that there are so many piss poor leaders and managers out there, taught that every situation is black and white and this is correct and this is incorrect? It’s so infuriating, especially in a class like this which is supposed to be teaching you how to be a leader, where the different situations that you deal with every day are almost always a shade of gray. I had high hopes for this class but I guess I will just have to parrot back what I’m told to parrot back instead of actually learning useful concepts and techniques for the real world. If I was in an actual classroom I would be constantly arguing with the professor about this so it’s probably better that I’m not.

Going to vote early today. I was going to wait until election day but Jessica is going to be out of town seeing her sister that day so she needs to go do an absentee ballot and I figured that I would cast mine while we are there. I think I will vote absentee from now on, it’s so much easier and it gives you time to look at who you are voting for. I just need to request one sooner instead of having to do it in person at the last minute. I printed out a sample ballot and had to figure out what I would actually be voting for since the sample ballot has everything in the county and I can only vote for stuff in my district, etc. Lotta choices between a turd sandwich and a douche if you ask me (South Park reference). Lots of people running unopposed that I would vote against, I would hardly call that a vote. I think there needs to be more information on the performance of judges. It’s really a pain in the ass to find good ratings on them and having decent judges is probably just as important as having a decent politicians. They are 1/3 of a government after all, executive, legislative and judicial, yet all you see on the ballot is, “Should Joe Smith be retained?” and you have no idea what Joe Smith has done or where to go to find out.

Nebraska is playing Missouri this weekend, it’s pretty much the game to decide who is going to play for the Big 12 Championship for the North Division. I wasn’t expecting that. I was pretty sure that Missouri would have 2 losses and Nebraska would have none at this point but it didn’t work out that way. They knocked off #1 Oklahoma last week and did it pretty convincingly, while Texas owned us for the 10th time a row when we thought we would win a couple weeks ago. If we lose tomorrow then Mizzou will need to lose 3 more times and have us win out to play for the Big 12 championship. That’s not going to happen so lets cross our fingers I guess or it’s Cotton Bowl here we come. The good news is that 5 star running back Aaron Green committed yesterday so that’s awesome for the future. That guy is ridiculously fast and team him up with Taylor Martinez at QB and it should be quite the dynamic running game. If Martinez can become a serviceable passer as well like he was last week then we will have an explosive offense in the years to come after we move to the Big 10. Go Big Red!
